Elderly Pets

Elderly Pets

As pets get older, unfortunately more problems can occur.

Over the age of 7 we advise switching to a senior diet to ensure they get the most optimal nutrition and try and prevent problems such as weight gain as the metabolism slows down.

Early detection of a problem is often the best time to start any treatment, so we offer 6 monthly check ups and a range of blood and urine tests to check for problems such as osteoarthritis, diabetes, liver or kidney disease.

Common symptoms of a number of conditions include:

  • More reluctant to excercise or tiring on excercise more easily
  • Increased drinking
  • Weight loss
  • Increased panting
  • Change in appetite
  • Behaviour changes
  • vomiting and diarrhoea
